My family have been training with empty hands for a few years now and consider EHMA a part of our family. The training is first class in a friendly and encouraging environment. A great opportunity to get fit and make some new friends all the while learning how to effectively defend yourself.
RICK LAWSON
Empty Hands Martial Arts began in March 2008, and 11 years later, we are still here teaching Kenpo Karate to kids, teens and adults.
Our aim is to provide high-quality Kenpo Karate classes, in a positive and family-supportive environment.
Kenpo Karate develops environmental awareness, structural stability, balance, coordination, flow, speed, power and timing as the student progresses through our step-by-step curriculum.
Our students are taught not only how to execute the basic movements in our Program, but also when and why to use each basic.
In our classes, you are going to learn how to use your body to provide you with practical skills to defend yourself.
At Empty Hands Martial Arts, we pride ourselves on our family friendly training environment for you and your family.
While it’s true that an individual ’s progress is based on their own efforts, it can be amazingly motivating when training in a welcoming and supportive environment surrounded by friends on their own journey of self-development.
You can train with confidence knowing that all our instructors are internationally ranked and highly experienced, First-Aid qualified and with current (cleared) Child-Related Employment Screening.

While classes are geared toward self-defence, the real value comes in becoming a better person in terms of physical and mental health, and character development.
There are many benefits of training in Martial Arts at EHMA.
The physical benefits of exercise - improving physical condition and fighting disease – are well known… your doctor already probably mentions this whenever you see them!
Exercise is considered vital for both maintaining mental fitness, as well as reducing stress. When we exercise, endorphins are produced in our brain - they are our bodies natural stress fighters – as well as acting as natural painkillers.
Self-discipline begins with something as simple as turning up to your training sessions regularly. Learning new things requires both focus and discipline, as well as providing a welcome distraction to your day-to-day routines. Learn to set goals and experience the sense of accomplishment when you achieve them!
Exercising and training with like-minded people around you provides a strong sense of community. Become part of our community and make new friends along the way!
Remember those endorphins that help to reduce stress? Well, they also help to improve your sleep. Regular physical exercise will help you to sleep better at night, so you have increased energy levels during the day.
As you develop self-discipline and self-control, training in Karate will give you a focus point and a motivation to move on from unhealthy habits.
Setting and achieving goals provides a solid foundation on which to improve your confidence is - a common benefit of martial arts training. You will learn to perform without being self-conscious or being shy in front of others.
Studies have shown that exercise is very effective at reducing fatigue, improving alertness and concentration, as well as enhancing overall cognitive function. Be a better version of you!
For people struggling with mental health problems such as depression or anxiety, the supportive community at EHMA can go a long way in offering you friendship and a place to relax at ease.
At Empty Hands Martial Arts, we offer a family-friendly environment so that your whole family can enjoy the benefits of Karate together.
Yes, you will work hard… yes, you will learn new skills… yes, you will make new friends… but maybe most importantly… you will have fun at the same time!

I have been training on and off at EHMA for the past 10 years of my life. I can happily say that I have enjoyed every moment I have been there and everyone is extremely welcoming and great to be around! I would definitely recommend first timers who want a good experience to come and try at EHMA!

I would certainly recommend EHMA for anyone over the age of 4 years, and have been training myself for about 6 years. Great for some exercise, and you can learn something that is actually useful at the same time! One big diverse family!!

I've been training at Empty Hands Martial Arts for 8 or 9 years now and I have no regrets! They welcome you in like you're family and make you feel as comfortable as possible. They're very professional in how they run their classes and I love that every instructor has their own way of teaching Karate. Solid 5 stars.

In Martial Arts, you will hear the word “LINEAGE” frequently used… it is really a way of asking “WHERE are you from?”, or maybe “who is your FAMILY?”.
In “Martial Arts” this is important, asking any potential instructor “where did your martial arts ranks come from?”
